Global Forum for Teacher Educators, certified by Microsoft Educators is a volunteer forum, launched by Dr. Munir Moosa in 2014 to spread human rights education among youth and women of disadvantaged communities. It aims at shaping positive attitude towards human rights and protecting violent affected youth and women from radicalization and extremism.  GFTE also raises awareness among the children and youth regarding human values through extracurricular activities so that they can become active citizen and play integral part in solving global issues.

On this occasion, Dr. Munir said “It is very important to spread human rights education among children through extracurricular activities. Promoting ‘value education’ would surely reap positive outcomes, and would help them to understand their responsibility as global citizen. He further added, “In Pakistan, HRE is not taught as a subject due to fabricated ideologies, which is directing youth towards extremism. If we really want to win the battle, then contextual global education should be integrated in the curricula at all levels of education.

The objectives of this competition were:

  1. To provide platform to students to express their compassion and respect for others by using the medium of art

  2. To promote human values among students towards the children of disadvantaged communities

  3. To help shaping positive attitude of students towards human dignity by engaging them in healthy activities

The money saved through this competition was properly used for the education of children, women and senior citizens. Competitions for children who are battling with cancer, seniors, and street kids were also held, where the gifts and cash prizes were distributed from the money saved through this competition. Also, the art pieces were gifted as a token of love to the patients, seniors and children of poor communities. Details of the competition announcement can be downloaded here
